Title: Yet another upgrade! Post by: Gizmo on September 21, 2003, 11:20:33 pm Got bored when I got home from the Kingston trip. ;D
Hopefully this will solve the rainfade issue (only noticable when rain drops are clustered closer together), even though there shouldn't be with me being only 2km from the AP. Anyways, heres a pic of it installed for a test run, I've since reinstalled everything neat and tidy. Sorry its not that good, not easy to do when your up on the tower. (http://www.fierodrivers.com/members/gizmo/wirelessupgrade/wirelessamp500modifiedpoe.jpg) BTW, the amp is a modified Breezecom AMP-500 and the POE injector is also a modified Breezecom PI-CAT5 with a 12 volt output to the bridge. Because it's regulated, filtered, and outputting two voltages (15 for the amp and originally 5 for the bridge). I had to probe it, remove smt components, including a regulator that has no reference what-so-ever, and install an lm7812 regulator while maintaining the filtering and protection. Notice the perfect heatsink, the rear cover plate is aluminum. Also, having the regulator use a plug type connector has a plus, should I ever need a different voltage, simply plug in the desired regulator. The pigtails were custom made by a place out in Aurora because no reverse polarity sma male and female to n male exist. Actually wrong, there is one supplier but the barrel adapters are USD$100 a piece with a minimum order of 25! :o (http://www.fierodrivers.com/members/gizmo/wirelessupgrade/wirelessamp500modifiedpoe3.jpg) (http://www.fierodrivers.com/members/gizmo/wirelessupgrade/wirelessamp500modifiedpoe2.jpg) (http://www.fierodrivers.com/members/gizmo/wirelessupgrade/wirelessamp500modifiedpoe4.jpg)(http://www.fierodrivers.com/members/gizmo/wirelessupgrade/wirelessamp500modifiedpoe5.jpg) Anyways, time will tell how well this will work. Its worth a try regardless.... Title: Re:Yet another upgrade! Post by: JetJumper on September 21, 2003, 11:26:46 pm well, Fine then...hehe
