Title: Unmarked cruisers Post by: dguy on October 08, 2003, 11:28:29 am I noticed this on my way in to work this morning... a couple of "unmarked" police Impalas had unusual-looking protrusions on the trunk lids.
Two circles, each perhaps 1" high. One on the left-hand side and approximately 6-8" in diameter, one on the left which is much smaller. Could be GPS, communications, or even some sort of rear-looking radar that's more subtle-looking than the beer cans they sometimes strap to the sides of the cruiser. ??? Yes maybe a GPS unit. Could be hooked up to a central monitoring station so they know where all the cruisers are at all times ? It's got to be the worst place to run a wire?

Title: Re:Unmarked cruisers Post by: Andrew on October 10, 2003, 01:54:12 pm Talked to a child friend who is a now a constable, those little disks are the new attenna styles, one is for the gps/carr marker, the other is the radio. supposedly this style is more reliable and has a greater range then the old stick-in-the-air ones.
