Title: Power outage....back online now!
Post by: Gizmo on November 15, 2003, 03:21:43 pm
I swear these things only hit us, well and the ski hill plus some neighbours also.  We were without power for 46 hours, finally came back on a few minutes ago.  The UPS will only run for so long before all hope is lost.....

On my shopping list next time I go to Princess, a big generator.  Thought I saw a surplus on a pallet plus a nice 20hp twin engine that would run it half decent  ;D  Unless someone has a 20hp+ they want to donate to the cause, lmk!

Nick, you're not alone.

I never owned a UPS before I moved in to my current apartment; I bought one out of fear for my hardware a month after I moved in.  Seems like any little bit of excitement from mother nature gives us a least a brown-out.   ::)

It might be overkill to some, but if I ever finish building a "running" stand for the 'Stang's original motor, I'm sorely tempted to hook a generator up to it's tail!

Is the battery part of the UPS a 12 volt or a 24 volt?  You may need to wire in a couple parallel series circuits.

You could say I got bored.  ;D  I've already gone that far....I have a bank of 4 marine deep cycles in series and parallel....being nicely floated at 28 volts.  For the times when the power goes, and I happen to be around, I have a 4 hp engine running an alternator, running to an isolator and into each 12 volt bank of batteries.
