I have not read or heard anywhere of an aftermarket chip that provides a noticeable improvement. (ass-o-meter rating).  Maybe on an auto, a bit.

I think any money for mods should go to 'real' work.  Shift kit, shorty headers. bored out TB, good perf valve work, rebuild, and so on.

I think anyone who says a chip radically improves a 2.8 has also done other things which may account for most of (if any) change.

Just my opinion.

Thanks for the info i set a budget aside for this car every summer so far or i should say i try so i thought for now the cheapest way was a chip but if im going to go ahead and modify this engine i'll wait @ have it rebuilt at the same time but right now it's running well not burning oil or loosing any as far as i can see my 4spd. tranny is only 3 months old with new clutch so i think for this year i'll close the books @ plan for next year..........

here is a thought,
you can get:
4.X Cadilac Engine $800.00 + $50.00 mounts
3800SC Engine $2400 + $100 flywheel

Seat of your pants feeling = priceless :P

The cost of improoving a 2.8 to perform to the specs of theise engines is more expensive than theise engines. So get one of theise and improove from there. :)

cheers!
Eric
