Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on February 11, 2004, 03:45:23 pm Have the last week of this month off school for reading week so should be almost done by then if things cooperate. John has done a few requested changes to the metal at old battery tray making me a nice shelf for mounting ign module. She's starting to look like new back there and stronger than ever.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on February 11, 2004, 08:41:23 pm Brian I e-mailed you with a suggestion.
Damn I'm starting to feel special two series 3800SC's sitting almost side by side in my garage at the same time. Let alone the completed 84 Fiero outside with the 97 3800N/A installed. What do you think of that Gary now thats something to drool over. This place is starting to look like some kind of Fiero collectors garage. A red one a purple one and a (freaken) I mean pretty yellow one due to return soon. May have to go buy some cars still emplty places in the drive way. Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on February 12, 2004, 09:39:49 am I am looking for a marine bilge pump to install to keep the coils cool. Could also mount a Canadian Tire has a 10" fan to mount under one side of the top grills. I guess I should purchase a set of plugs one level cooler as well. Shall I go ahead and order 2 - 3.4 inch undersize pullies for the eaton blower (one at my cost and one at yours)?
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on February 12, 2004, 09:43:07 am Sure a little more power never hurt anything. Then we need to find a puller to borrow from somewhere. Dan
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on February 15, 2004, 08:28:33 am Your car is now back at my place welding complete. He did a real nice job fixing everything weak or rusted looks like a real car again instead of a car with lots of rust holes. He also reinforced the rear frame where it was weak and broke on mine so you should be ok as long as you drive as respectably as I do. Will take some pictures today of his work for you. Also can you e-mail him as he is having trouble e-mailing you I do not think he fully understands the whole computer thing.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on March 15, 2004, 09:33:01 pm Motor is in and looking real pertty in there. The Popntiac Transport axle shafts worked perfectly. Now time to finish off and put this baby back together.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on March 16, 2004, 10:56:14 am The pic of the mounted motor in the engine compartment was almost better than sex. See you on the weekend (going to have to rename the YellowJacket to "the money pit" ;D
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on March 21, 2004, 05:47:11 pm Will use one of my extra 140kph speedos for you crystal as it needs to go on the circuit board not the speedo which you gave me without the board, no problem I have lots of spares. Was looking at my speedo it is only in km (no mph) and reads 140 may figure out which crystal it needs to read 140 mph instead and use the scale that way. just relabel the kp/h to mph.
Looked at disc of 22p it is missing chapter 11 and also first half of book which gives a better breakdown of part numbers referenced to the pictures in the second half which your disc covers. Way too much to scan over 300 pages. Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on March 23, 2004, 10:51:52 am I though that you were going to take the old board out and solder the crystal in and they install the decal after. All works out the same anyway. Seem to have temporariy misplased the speedo decal. Will advise.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on March 24, 2004, 04:19:34 pm Just came from wreckers they now want $250 + tax for the fuel pump go figure. Your after market piece of crap rear sway bar is now in. Only six friggin hours to instal, had to drop rear cradle to get it in then modify the hardware to actually fit. Then after all that the main strut bolts had to come out to bolt the link brackets in place. What a lousy design for a sway bar.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on March 28, 2004, 08:35:26 pm I thought you were coming down this weekend, what too tired from all that goverment hard work. Car is almost done now pretty much at a standstill needing parts.
list 1)one e-brake cable 2)pass front brake flex line 3)fuel pump 4)exhaust system. Found a dual muffler that will work, tight but fits. Priced as approx $200 at CDN tire and one high flow cat from exhaust place $150 no questions no tax on cat. Did you find a 6cyl tach yet. Just think you can soon drive this thing down the road. Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: aaron88 on March 28, 2004, 11:40:38 pm 150 dollars (US) for a high flow fuel pump from The Fiero Store.
Aaron . Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on March 29, 2004, 01:17:00 pm Aaron--- You have a link on that pump.
Dan--- off work sick the last few days. Hope to get there next week. might have a female navigator riding shogun Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on April 05, 2004, 04:21:50 pm Weather too bad on Sunday hope you got home ok.
Checked that rear deck lid is gone so I mounted the scoop on yours. Found a way to route the breather tube into the body vented area do you want me to do it on yours and use a K&N filter as a normal one would be ruined if it got wet. Those gauge overlays are for the back lit gauges will have to cut up[ to mount on yours and you can't use the tach one as it has no oil pressure gauge in it. What I did on mine is use an 85 GT speedo which reads only in km/h up to 140. With crystal in it actually accurately reads as mph just have to get a small sticker to cover the km/h with mph. You will only have mph on the speedo then. I know where another one of them is do you want me to get it for yours instead of the overlays. It is a whole gauge pod with the 6 cyl tach still in it, wreckers wants $50 for it though let me know which way you want it to be. Ordered the muffler today should be in within 3 to 5 days so should be able to start car and possibly drive this weekend. Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on April 06, 2004, 07:29:12 am And I just sent away for a 6 cyl tach!! Go figure. So what you are saying is that the 140 kph GT speed will read 140 mph with the new crystal in it. The curent 140 kph SE guage will not work? I am missing something as the indicator should be the same for both. I will call you tonight.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on April 06, 2004, 08:15:36 am If you can get a tach get it you never know if the one in the wreckers is any good. Problem with over lay is that it is for back light gauges so the light shines through the gauge not reflected off the front of the gauge. I can cut it up and mount it and it should fit ok but problem is the glossiness of the gauge surface because it is for back light it is a duller flat black surface with the markings also dull non glossy. It may be difficult to read the gauges once mounted for this reason as the normal gauges are glossy reflective surface. To use them properly you would have to have a complete back light gauge pod with the extra above radio pod for the oil pressure gauge. Problem would not be accuracy as the electronic portion of the gauges is the same it would be a matter of whether or not you would be able to read the gauges. If you like I can try and print off a glossy paper version and try mounting that to a gauge and see how it looks.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: fiero308 on April 06, 2004, 10:04:43 am Brian: are you looking for a guage set or do you have what you need? I might have a set or two - one is in my car at the moment but is going to be replaced (at SOME point) and another I bought on ebay just to experiment with.
LMK Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: aaron88 on April 06, 2004, 04:46:38 pm Sorry for the delay on that fuel pump.
http://www.secureleadercom.com/fsstore/initsite.asp I can't link directly, so go to: Start shopping Fuel & Filters V6 performance about half way down the page Aaron . Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on April 07, 2004, 07:34:11 am $150 USD for a high pressure pump. Not bad. I looked around and found the best deal at Upper Canada Auto Parts. (thanks Graeme). Got a carter pump for the 3.8 supercharged at a club price of $163 + tax. I would recomend these people at UP due to there knowlege, curious service and price. (not a paid endorsment)
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: fiero308 on April 07, 2004, 01:49:36 pm i'm going to guess that curious service is a replacement for customer service..... LOL
glad we are able to get some help with our projects somewhere.... Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on April 08, 2004, 07:38:22 am <curious service> sorry my spelling is a little off. Should be courteous service
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on April 08, 2004, 07:49:47 pm Experimented with paint marker and blacking out the mph readings leaving only kmh readings and the mph marker on bottom. Doesn't look too bad, now crystalled it will read up to 140 mph. Will install in car and see how it looks installed.
Once again I would like to stress that the max speed limit is 100kmh or 60mph so there really is no need for a higher reading speedo other than for impressing stupid kids at car shows. Also blonde females. Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on April 12, 2004, 05:30:10 pm Oh no it lives another dangerous driver on the way. Just need to have PCM reprogrammed, bleed the brakes and its done. If you want me to take it somewhere local for safety I will need the ownership to do so.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on April 13, 2004, 12:14:43 pm Also blonde females. Just got one. Will work on the ownership. Exhaust is done? Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on April 13, 2004, 04:34:28 pm Exhaust done yes and sounds real nice, I put the GTP tips on it for you while I was at it. It is wired as a 98 GTP to avoid the need of newer pass key and body computer. I have been using my PCM to run it till I get your's reprogrammed for the GTP set up. Checked with local dealerships and they know nothing and say it can't be done. Will have to find someone who can reprogram OBD II or take it to dealer's in Peterborough they did mine last year with no problems. I fiberglassed the underside of your deck lid scoop for more strength. Once I get these damn front bleed screws to let go can bleed brakes then she's drivable. Need to figure out good place to mount your det toy any suggestions where you would like it. I think you're gonna like what you see when you get it. Wish mine looked this clean.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on April 14, 2004, 07:31:20 am The det toy should be mounted somewhere out of site yet close so that I can reach it. Front dash maybe? Could use some suggestions. CLEAN --Does that mean that I do not have to vaccum it? :D ;D Will go tonight and get the ownership changed. Took an hour to find the original paperwork.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on April 14, 2004, 08:19:49 am No I mean clean as everything is out of sight that should be PCM inside car passkey hidden plus does not need any vacuuming. Good idea would be to get trip permit for it so can legally move around for safety and e-test.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on April 14, 2004, 09:39:04 am Will get the ownersihip changed. Then insurance on it (this should be good as the car is in another town). I will send you by mail the cash and a note stating that you can get a trip permit on my behalf (have done this before with a little bit of hassle from the DMV). If I get the permit here and send it to you by mail with 5 days delivery time the 10 day permit will be expired.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on April 14, 2004, 04:12:55 pm Had her out for a long drive today and stopped by garage about safety he is booked up for a while. Did you want to find a garage up there and I can bring it up there for safety. Can always fix anything they do not like up there.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on April 15, 2004, 07:34:57 am Having a problem with the registration as it went though a second person and that person not paying the tax. Will have it resolved tonight. As for the safety, I don't have a garage here but will look for one. I should pick up the car on the weekend of the 24th for sure.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on April 15, 2004, 08:59:15 pm Took car out for a drive today to Peterborough had it inspected for a safety to see what it needs. Good news is put over 200 miles on her with no problem at all except the brakes a little spongy need the fronts bled but bleeders siezed, may need new calipers on front. Bad news is found lots of things being in need of attention for safety. Did you want me to repair these things for you. 1) obvisously front brakes 2) driver's side mirror flopping around needs replacing. 3)Marker light bulb sockets badly corroded need replacing or massive rust scrapping. 4)Floor inspection panels rotted need replacing or new metal inserted in place of. 5)drivers rear bumper reflector missing. 6)Driver's seat rails siezed (unsafe if not adjustable). 7)passengers rack dust boot ripped hanging off. 8) horn not working. 9)right signal switch canceling spring broken. 10)steering column lock plate bent shaft collapsed. 11) brake pads border line may or may not pass.
Doesn't this make you want to punch the ass in the head who sold the car to you. Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on April 19, 2004, 09:42:53 am all parts bought except the blower oil. Will pick up after work today.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on April 19, 2004, 09:53:09 am When should I expect to get the parts this here yeller car is just itching to be driven.
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on April 19, 2004, 12:08:25 pm pm sent
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on April 19, 2004, 06:11:23 pm You now have a pm
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on May 09, 2004, 08:02:56 pm Found a Fiero with a reese trailer hitch on it did you want me to get a price on it for you. Fits nicely and bolts to frame sticks out just a bit below plate. Dan
Title: Re:Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on May 10, 2004, 12:07:34 pm Na, I really wanted a hidden one. Don't mind having on on a sports car if the car is towing something. but the idear of cruising' with a trailer hitch just dont' pick up the ladies ;D
Title: Re: Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on May 19, 2004, 12:52:35 pm Will be at Fast Freddy's on Friday am. Do you have his phone number? After safety I will head on over to your place.
Title: Re: Hey Brian Post by: 2ML67 on May 19, 2004, 04:15:26 pm I don't know his number but I was talking to him this morning and told him you would be there Friday afternoon so he is expecting you. Dan
Title: Re: Hey Brian Post by: GoFast85 on May 20, 2004, 07:35:47 am See you then
