Title: coilovers? Post by: GSXRBOBBY on March 06, 2004, 11:13:56 pm I'm very close to doing a swap for a guy and I am looking into putting coil overs on the 87 SE so the 17" rims will fit in the wheel well and over the brakes. I am looking for a good ride with a somewhat good price?

Title: Re:coilovers? Post by: FieroBUZZ on March 08, 2004, 11:47:58 am There are a lot of suppliers of bits and pieces. You can make your own pretty easily. Try
http://www.stockcarproducts.com/ (http://www.stockcarproducts.com/)Look under Carrera Shocks and see the coilover kits. Oh! tell them it's for your stock car not the street ;) Basically it's just a sleeve, top and bottom spring holder and a spring. I'll look for the PFF build later. *edit* Here is Steve Hoberg's thread. http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/046456.html (http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/046456.html) *** I got a set from Jonathon McCreery, but not sure if I'll go that route. You can cut the perch off of the strut and mount the coilover from the bottom. Or you can trim the sleeve to fit the perch and use a shorter spring. I'll try to get some pics of mine tonight as they are not mounted (like everything else). Gary Title: Re:coilovers? So let see if I got this? 1. The spring coil over needs to be 12" or 10" (if I wish to lower the car a few inches) a 300lbs. spring for a softer ride and a 350 lbs spring for a firmer ride a 2 1/2" inner from just about anywhere will work 2. the ring that holds the spring and will allow you to adjust it is called what? is there a set size needed 3. the sleeve that has the outer threads is called a what? and is there a set size for it and are 2 and 3 sold together most of the time? 4. Using a standard strut for a Fiero and just cuting off and grinding down the ring that holds the spring will work correct? |
