Title: So where do we go from here....
Post by: Sentinel on March 27, 2004, 02:42:24 am
As a drunk and undoubtlyhigh as a kite Axel Rose once said "Where do we go now , where  do we go from here"
By that I mean, I think we've hit the point where a large portion of Fiero's left are in the hands of enthusists, so what do we do with them now? Restore, Modify, 3800Sc  or Northstar the little buggers. you could always do this....

 >:(

But seriously, I picked up Performance Pontiac mag as was SHOCKED  ::) to still see nothing Fiero related, so do you guys feel at some point there may be acceptance of the Fiero's as a restorable, modifiable car or we'll always be on the outside left to engineer our own stuff ourselves.
I for one am rather inspired by our (not so) little group and to see the amount of energy and ingenuity going into the engine swaps. It's kind of like seeing the west being settled, it's not like anyone can swing into CT and grab an off the shelf part for everthing, I can see we rely on each other quite a bit and it's great to see idea's being tossed around and information shared so freely, I'd be so inclided to say we just might have one of the most technically innovative groups in North America, and Cudo's do go out to you guys who are undertaking these endeavours and sharing, posting and documenting all your hard work.

Anyways, I'm feeling a little veclemt now...

Talk amongst yourselves...

I'll give you a topic, The GM closures for manufacturing plants in the upper Michigan areas throughout the 90 and social and economic impact, please fell free to Roger Moores documentaries.

Discuss.....

I think as a club we are doing awesome! and like you said Steve, people on here shair the wealth. All the info, the problem solved or encountered are documented so that the next person with the same problem does not waist countless hours for nothing.

As for the Fiero not being a popular restoration car.. I think we (not just Ottawa but the whole Fiero community) needs to stir some perverbial shit. Just make it know that we have theise cars and make it known that we are looking for aftermaket solutions. Or better yet, manifacture the parts we already mad. (Hint Aaron! That is one awesome battery tray!)

My focus I want to bring to our next meeting is how we can make the Fiero club LOUDER to the public. You might ask, "what's the point?"  Funding! Wether it be finiancial or material. We are a good source of advertising for sponsors but we need to portray structure. We need to show to them a definate number of active members, shows we attend, events we participate in ect.. thus far, all that info is very vague.

So lets make sure we are constantly taking steps in the right direction, and lets have fun doing it!

cheers!
Eric

Curiosity question for ya--just how far do you intend to take this "We are a good source of advertising for sponsors" angle?

I'm already a whore of the high tech industry, and I'd prefer not to compound that by whoring out to various retailers, manufacturers, etc. with stickers & branded apparel just to get a few more bucks in our pockets.

I am more than willing to sew a 'Canada' patch on the azz of my jeans .......  for about 10 million.  ;D  ;D

Other than that, I would rather just be a loose social group rather than a club obligated to meet some kind of standards.

I have yet to see a car club that doesn't drown in the bs and vision of whomever decides they want to lead everyone in a certain direction.  Just my opinion and no flames at anyone we know.  Those who have worked to get us this far have done a great job and asked nothing in return.  Lots of locals have gone down in flames, and even those that are around still (like JCO) have had their share of nasty infighting.

No thanks, I can get that at home.  :-*

No sticker guys! hehe! no worries. I am working on getting sponsors. that is hoe out membership free club can afford to get prizes and "hopfully" a fancy end of the year party. :)

the advertising will be in the form of some banners at big shows. Some refferals and in club business.

There will be no "whoring out"  :o where do he get all this stuff?  ::)

Cheers!
Eric

From my twisted little mind, of course!   ;D  I simply call it like I see it, based on present observations & past experience.

I call myself a whore of the high tech industry, because that's how I see it.  Offer me a contract with the appropriate numbers attached to it, and I'll do your bidding within reason.  No I'm not working from a street corner in a red light district, but the principle is still the same.

Perhaps I should have said "selling out" instead of "whoring out."   :-\  ...or perhaps "going commercial" would have been a better choice of words yet.   :-\

...or better yet I'll just say "I'm with Gary."   8)

How about we have a good discussion about it in our next meeting. I'd like to see what everyone's points are and what we can do to make this season more exciting. :)

cheers!
