Title: EGR TUBE
Post by: lsixtyseven on March 31, 2004, 01:16:15 pm
My egr tube is broken right off of the flange underneath the plenum, has anyone repaired this tube, or know of a way to repair it.

2.8 ?

I believe it can be brazed.  Or a Firebird one will fit, if the holes are elongated a bit, it's supposed to be stronger.

I have a used Fiero one here if you need it.

I'm going to try brazing it, and if that doesn't work and nobody else has any ideas then I will take your used tube.

I was wondering if a copper pipe would work, any thoughts?

just to suggest that you weld it ("braze with steel rod") rather than bronze rod....
it will be MUCH stronger and should stand up to temp and vibration a lot longer. Once you start using bronze you will be stuck with that as you prob know.
just 2 cents....

Trying to weld the flange to the tube was burning holes in the tube, :'( it is very thin. I was fed up with that so went to the bronze rods. The bronze did the job but then i had to braze the new holes i made in the tube.

Hope it works.
