Title: rear upper (yes) control arms
Post by: fiero308 on May 23, 2004, 12:03:50 pm
a little update;
mocked things up to check camber gain thru my suspension travel and it looks OK for a first time around:
I have NOT set it at exactly zero camber for ride height; I just eyeballed it and I know that I have a bit of shimming to do but wanted to see if I was close and I think I am.

first pic is with the control arms set at ride height.  (By the way, I will have a 'track' suspension setting that will be 1.5" lower but that is next time around)
2nd pic is of max compression; nice little bit of negative camber gain that should nicely compensate for body roll and tire distortion on corners...... ;D

Bottom goes the same way but I am not as concerned about the camber change; it is the 'outside' corner that I am more concerned about of course.

Just thought I would post an update.

well it is a bit encouraging, so far.  Next is to check for toe in or toe out on wheel travel up and down.
THAT is the biggie - and the reason for doing it!  And I should get better (less) camber change when set at the 'race' setting so that is another switch I have to make and check too.
Slowly it is coming.  But if this works I get to take the cut off wheel to the other side and presto! No more McPherson struts!
