Title: First Longish trip Post by: Sentinel on May 24, 2004, 06:34:21 pm Well Sunday I finally got the itch to go driving so I took off back home, was a beautiful day, Sunroof open, open road, life was good, until I hit Antrim, then all hell broke loose, that road from the truck stop till Arnprior on 17 is brutal, I can't wait till the new section is done, but it was all worth while once I hit the far side of Renfrew, to the Opengo Line and up to Foymount, ahhhhh if you've never had the pleasure of driving it(a bit rough mind you) but nothing but twists and turns, let me know and I'll take you up sometime, of course the ride back today sucked , but oh well, now to cost out my new suspension cause right now the Fiero rides well like a 20 year old Fiero......

Rode up and down then back up that #(*)#)% hill; found out a bit later that it was the HIGHEST POPULATED POINT IN ONTARIO. Gee. Just what we wanted with 70 lbs of gear on our bikes..... in JULY.......... :P
But one of the best trips we ever did. Stopped to watch otters playing in the creek beside the road, met the 'chief bear chaser' from the dump, joined in an impromptu hoedown at the Killaloe hotel;...... all the good stuff. Great, super, very memorable trip. We still talk about it. Title: Re: First Longish trip Post by: Sentinel on May 24, 2004, 09:23:48 pm LOL, That's hilarious, yeah Foymount is the highest point in Ontario with a population, it use to be a military base, they ran all the radar there, now it's just Sierra designs plant, but one hell of a view, but wintertime that hill can be a real beast. You would of biked right past my place(use to be a Brudenell Woodworking sign out front). Cheif bear chaser, guy with long hair, if so that's Rick, strange bird. Ahh Quinns tavern, I'd like to say many fond memeries, but in fact they are all pretty hazy, not sure if it was the pints or the "local atmosphere"
huh just when you think no one has ever heard of Killaloe.... glad you enjoyed the trip.... Title: Re: First Longish trip Post by: GoFast85 on May 25, 2004, 10:16:15 am Took mine out for a spin toward Oshawa. Drove 95 kph and from (Ottawa to Napanee(226 km) and burn't 10.442 litres. Thats 60.3 mpg. More spirited driving later and 20.1 mpg.
