Title: Need GM pique and hold fuel injectors
Post by: aaron88 on June 08, 2004, 12:12:42 pm
Need GM pique and hold fuel injectors

I need to borrow 4 GM pique and hold fuel injectors for two days or so.  Somewhere between 19 and 30 lb injectors.

If someone can spare them for a few days it would be greatly appreciated.

A friend of mine is having some trouble getting his Lotus to pass emissions because he has huge injectors in his car (due to boost levels) and during idle the car runs in open loop and therefore too rich.  He needs some smaller injectors to run through the idle test again.

A very long shot, but somewhere I have six very dirty injectors for the stock 2.8...  17lbs I think.  No idea what condition they're in, as I pulled them from a junk motor a while ago.   ???

Aaron; I have some 19 pounders out of a mustang supposedly.  Bought them on ebay before changing my engine plans...... ::)  They are the same style as the fiero ones tho.

Don't know if they are what you are after tho (peak and hold?) - I will leave that up to your expertise.  I am not into injectors at the moment so the variations are not first and foremost with me at the moment.

If you want to take all 8 and see what ones work best you are welcome to use them.

I have a v6 engine in the shed that still has the injectors. Yours to borrow for the pulling

Never mind.  My friend seems to have solved the problem by dividing his injector voltage by two.

now THAT sounds curious......... ??? ???
It is a little solenoid valve, isn't it?  And it would take a certain voltage just to make it function.  And reducing the voltage still works.  Interesting.  Maybe he is talking about 'shortening' the signal duration?

Never heard of that one!  Altho I see a product for boosting fuel pressure by simply cranking up the voltage to the fuel pump.  THAT sounds .... funny..... too.

I don’t question what Stu does with electrical, because he knows a hell of a lot more than I ever will.

Increasing voltage to a fuel pump shouldn’t do anything because the fuel pressure is regulated by the vacuum.  The more vacuum the lower the fuel pressure.  Some fuel rails will be 35 lb at idle and 90+ lb at full throttle.  Others are always the same.
