Title: 87 GT Post by: lacelles on October 28, 2004, 08:42:22 am Remember this tread
http://www.fierodrivers.com/forum/index.php?topic=1961.0 I was happy ;D But last Thursday night I went for a ride, and after having a friend look at the car, it seems like a connecting rod broke. >:( . I will park the car in the garage, and look at doing and engine swap. Any advice on what type of engine I should put, I saw some people putting a 4.3 Cadillac engine... You you want to get it on the road fast, I have a spare 2.8 for sale cheap. Title: Re: 87 GT Post by: aaron88 on October 28, 2004, 03:52:51 pm If you’re looking for a bigger badder motor there are a few here, to look at and maybe get a ride in to help you make your decision.
What it’s probably going to come down to for you is cost and reliability. I like my swap but it cost big bucks, there are some more economical swaps around. What you want to do is talk with me and with Dan and maybe a few others, like Nick, Tyler or well I’m sure there are more but I can’t think of any others in Ottawa right now. The reason I say that you should talk to us is because we did swaps ourselves and have a lot of info for you, but its much too cumbersome to type it all out, so we must talk about it. Maybe you should come out to a meeting, but make sure one of the builders are there, it’ll save you a lot of time. You could also go to PFF in the tech section and do a search for “engine swap” I’m sure you get a lot to read about the, including lots of answers to your specific question. Aaron . Any one you ever use the v-8 archie conversion kit. www.v8archie.com Title: Re: 87 GT Post by: Rob on November 02, 2004, 11:18:47 am Sounds like you have my luck when it comes to fieros! but I keep going too! be sure to research your swap carefully, there are many engines to choose from! Archie seems like a good guy, I priced out one of his kits a while back came to around $3500 canadian after all was said and done!
Good Luck; Title: Re: 87 GT Post by: aaron88 on November 02, 2004, 11:56:52 am I haven't used his kit but I do think it's the best V8 kit that I've seen. He does do a few things that I don't like but it's still a good kit, and the best for the price. Although I realy recomend against using the Isuzu transmission, use the getrag if you want manual.
