Title: What's on for Winter?
Post by: FieroBUZZ on November 13, 2004, 05:48:21 pm
What's everyone got planned for their baby over the winter?

I think I may have a crack at a 3800 s/c swap.   Can't get better free ammunition than that.   ::)

Feel free to blast away,   best shot gets a prize.   :-*

Dan, I expect something creative......

well Gary
I certainly am not qualified to take a shot....... something about stowing thrones in grass houses.... ::)
but I think I will try to get to a rolling chassis.......
I just bought a little tank mount propane heater for the garage, along with a portable CO detector and just need a small fan now.  It works!! ;D
I DO actually have the rear suspension figured out and one side is DONE; (gotta 'mirror' it on the other side, but that is an exercise in detail, no more testing required..
I am back to the front end; decided to re-do my spindles after doing another mock up; my wheels were hitting the lower control arm and I am not completely happy with the arrangement, so that is the answer there.  No big deal, either; should take a wk or two to do.  Then figure out mounting of the front shock......then 'mirror' THAT on the drivers side.
Then mount the shiny alum rad........ boy, do the fins ever bend EASY.....(ask me how I know.... ::)  )  THEN I am in shape to think about the actual MOTOR/TRANS swap!!
Nothin' to it!!
 :P

Who's next?

Gary I am offended that you think that low of me, why would I want to make fun of you after all you do a better job your self that I could ever do. But for you I will try.
Just curious though has your wife finished converting your garage into a sewing room yet or has she given you back your pants. Hows that for a try after all I am not very good at making fun of people. Also it is not considered a swap until you actually start putting it back together, its considered demolition till then.
Wasn't home last night so I will call you tonight.  Dan

Not bad, Dan .........  Still a garage, but pretty cold out there with no pants.  :P

Dropped the car off the jack stands yesterday, too bad it had no wheels.  Put the fenders and hood on last week, but took them off last night.  Does that count as progress?

I'll be in and out today (no pun intended) so I'll call about 8 if that's good.

oh geez.
Gary - do you still have that shifter kicking around somewhere?  I have a part you gave me a LONG time ago; I was supposed to give it to someone else I think but anyway. I still have it.
I don't know if I will be able to come out today but .......pretty soon?
Lmk what day is good or bad......I will try to get it out of your way.
Sorry about being so slow.  It is just that I am....so slow.

8 sounds good for me, I'll make sure that I am back in from my nice warm heated garage by then. Did you ever find or get a hold of that extra WCF engine mount.
For my car I hate to admit I have removed the drive train and am putting it into my 97 SSEi Bonneville and unless insurance some how drops my Fiero will have to sit out next summer. Have to get down to one vehicle due to wife getting liscence. Thinking about a series III 3800SC when I finally put my Fiero back on the road the idea of the paddle shifter and fly by wire throttle has gotten my interest. Dan

Lots, but the list is at home and I'm not.   ;D  Then again none of it will ever happen if I don't get Sacha's car out of the garage.   :-\

Someone has learned the hard way to never again use an "easy out" on a broken exhaust bolt.   :'(

lets see.... gotta finish the decklid on Don's car, and I may attack the wing or the hood vents as well... depends on whether or not my car gets out of the garage before the winter  ;)

But juice doesn’t count and my car may still be faster than yours.
