Title: non fiero... Torque Monsters available now.... WOW
Post by: fiero308 on February 20, 2005, 09:47:25 am
some idle chatter but interesting nonetheless.....
1.  Chrysler: I'm talking about the Cummins diesel; I don't think it is a brand new offering, really, but .... think about this:  5.9 liter; about 362 cu in.
so not that big, really.  It makes 610 ft lb of torque at 1800 rpm!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o
EIGHTEEN HUNDRED.  A fast idle!!  Burn the tires off your baby without reaching 2000 rpm!?!?!?  That is insane....

2.  Neat if you have a spare $13G's US....... (it's on sale!) and direct from GM parts counter: a bolt in big block to go racing.  572 cu in; 720 hp.  Over the counter, ready to go.  Who said hi perf was dead???  http://www.gmpartsdepot.com/store/product1.aspx?SID=2&Product_ID=458&Category_ID=64

3.  If I can find it now.....Triumph (motorcycle - so you have to put the numbers in perspective) new Rocket III; not sure I am in love with the looks, but its 3 cyl in line 2400cc engine puts out 147 ft lbs at only 2500 rpm; again a really fast idle.  The engine revs to at least 5750 so it is not a totally low end machine.  Again, smoke the tire without thinking about it.  A write up gave another rating for it; 64 ft lbs at idle!!!!! IDLE.  Belive it or not, that is VERY close to a (current) Harley's PEAK torque.  hmmmmm

So on a slow sunday AM there is some amusement and brain fodder maybe.
Have a great wk everyone!

Yeah, she's a neat one.  Unusual-looking & impressive numbers.  Redline is a bit low for a sport bike if you ask me, but...  :-\

HD's V-ROD is still sexier though.   (where's a  smiley when I need one?)
