Title: 1 inch lowering ball joints Post by: GoFast88 on February 28, 2005, 12:26:18 pm Just purchased them from Rodneys.
http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/058096.html He recomends welding them in. Don't think that Dan has a portable welder at his garage so if any of you members have a 110 volt buzzbox that I can borrow for the long weekend in March let me know (can supply "damage deposit" if required). But honestly because this is a suspension component you are going to want a certified welder to do that for you. That's my strong recommendation. Should cost you about $15 to weld those in, as long as you have it all prepared for him/her. Aaron . Dan - you have someone lined up to do a bit of spot welding if we can send out the part to Bellville??

Title: Re: 1 inch lowering ball joints Post by: dguy on March 23, 2005, 09:15:22 am Not here... whenever I need one changed I pull the control arm and take it to a local shop. A whole $20 to press out the old & press in the new.
You could try CTC's loan-a-tool program, but I don't remember seeing a ball joint press the last time I looked. Title: Re: 1 inch lowering ball joints Post by: GoFast88 on March 23, 2005, 01:05:02 pm All they have is the fork type. I have "reserved" it but I can see that it is going to be a pain the the a** to use instead of the clamp type.

If my suspicion is correct, it'll be Brian's ass that feels it. "Fork type" sounds like a pickle-fork style ball joint separator, which ain't gonna do diddly to remove the ball joint from the control arm! Brian if the tool you have on reserve looks like this... (http://images.canadiantire.ca/media/images/Automotive/TestTune/GeneralTools/0256228_160_SC_18a1b.jpg) ...it is not the thing you need to remove the ball joint from the LCA.
