Title: Cold Air Intake setup 3800SC
Post by: lacelles on May 03, 2005, 10:58:16 am
Hi

What setup can I use for an air intake kit that will fit on an 87 Fiero GT with a 3800SC (Buick engine)?
Can I use a off the shelf kit somewhere (BUICK KIT), or I need the one that WCF sales?

Do you have any picture of your setup?

Hi Stephane, I make my own when I do a 3800 swap. All parts needed cost about $180 CDN. Sorry I don't have any pic's to show you.

2ML67 has my 88 that has a cold air intake and his personal machine has a differnt style of hombuilt unit. Don't know if he has a camera, but I will be going to Belville on the long weekend and can get pics, if required.

I took a peice of 3.5" mandrel bent tubing (180 degree) Cut it in 1/2 , bolted the one peice up to the TB , and held the other in place into the fender well. Marked it with a sharpie , held it with some welding magnets. Tacked it , rechecked with a filter on , welded it up , ground down the welds , painted with VHT Temp and chemical resistant paint...done.

$15 for the mandrel bent pipe
$10 for the paint
$2 for the sharpie
$40 for the filter

Finished it in about 2hrs, looks great
