Title: Thanks Tinker, but I still have a question
Post by: ChevTbirdFiero on May 24, 2005, 09:27:23 am
Thanks for the Diagram on the jacking points... http://www.fierodrivers.com/forum/index.php?topic=2363.0
However, the resolution on my PC must not be up to snuff because I cannot make out the textures on the squares that show up on the underbody (can't make out the checkered pattern from the light grey, etc)...
Please tell me if I interpreted the diagram correctly...
If I wanted to put the car up on four frame jacks WITHOUT HARMING MY NEW PRIDE AND JOY, I would put the two rear jacks at the rear end of the engine cradle, on either side of the trunk, inboard from the exhaust tips..
And for the front, on the front frame rails, just ahead of the front axle...
Is this correct???
Would it be better or worse to set them up at the Frame/Body contact Hoist points identified in the diagram (front frame rails, behind the axle and forward portion of the engine cradle)... This setup is more 'inboard'...

Thanks again for your help... Just want to get things right... When I get the car and clean it up a bit, I will post some photos...

The most stable position for the car will be with the stands as close to each corner of the car as possible, under the most rigid piece you can find.

At the rear, this usually means placing the stands either under the rear most corners of the cradle itself, or underneath the rear most parts of the frame which extend to the bumper bar.

My favorite location at the front is at the outer most portions of the front crossmember, between the diagonal braces & the lower control arm pivot.

Depending upon your location & whatnot, I could possibly swing by on my way home some afternoon and do the hands-on thing.
