Title: LF: Pre-88 front brake rotors Post by: dguy on October 28, 2006, 10:19:09 am I need a pair of them, in good enough condition to be turned in to hubs.
In other words, I really don't care what sort of shape the friction surface is in so long as the hub is intact. :) Title: Re: LF: Pre-88 front brake rotors Post by: 2ML67 on October 28, 2006, 12:41:40 pm Becareful there is one type that was used that can't be turned down far enough to fit, can't remember right off the differences in them. Ask Indypacer (Sean) he might be able to remember the difference in them. Dan
Title: Re: LF: Pre-88 front brake rotors Post by: FieroBUZZ on October 28, 2006, 05:01:17 pm I'm thinking of doing it as well. I'm not sure how many I have kicking around, tho.
I have a couple of GA rotors too, if I haven't chucked them. Good for maesuring the space available for testing. I'd take a new rotor (whatever you'll be using and get the machine shop to just take the Fiero one down enough to fit. That should allow for any difference in manufacturing tolerances. Ask Indypacer (Sean) he might be able to remember the difference in them. I'll look in to it... thanks for the warning. As far as I can tell though, I should be ok with only the friction surface being removed (i.e. no turning down of the rotor hat diameter). I have yet to confirm the measurements, but it appears so far that the inner diameter of target rotor's hat is large enough to fit over the Fiero hat without modification. I'd like to get my hands on a set of old rotors to mess with, so that I can have everything ready-to-attach when I unwrap the car in the spring. |
