Title: Taillight Apearance Opinions Wanted
Post by: FieroBUZZ on February 20, 2007, 06:30:57 pm
Changing the guts of the coupe taillights a little bit.  Which set up is more pleasing to the eye?

I think this is some form of blotch test.

Its a moot point Gary, your car doesn't go anywhere.

Your collective cruelty knows no bounds.....

Which of these is more awe inspiring on a non-moving sort of car shaped thingie.

I like the mustard stain on the far outside better.

I like the mustard stain on the far outside better.

After staring at it for a while it really does seem to be the obvious choice.

Anyone bother to check the law?

There is a reason most cars have lights that wrap around the corner.  One bulb two directions, and it's cheeper to do that way.

However, being an older car I don't think we are bounded by that law, but think about it anyway.  The easyer it is to see that blinking light the fewer....

Alternately you could add a mid point turn signal and then I don't think it matters.

I have side marker lights.

If my car is on such an angle that you are not able to see a rear signal light then my car is:

a) doing a 360 spin

b) already performing a turn

c) about to be t-boned by your car.

Mid point turn signals are nice on a 60 foot Highway tractor, but a bit of bling on a 14 foot car.

Bling eh?  I think more usefull for blind spot drivers.

For all vehicles over 30 feet an additional midpoint turn signal is required. (ie. trailer)

I believe that's what I said.  If you are in a position coming up on a VW Golf where you cannot see the tail but can see the side flasher I suspect you are beside the driver.  If he turns toward you then you're screwed.

This is a Fiero we have here, not a tanker truck.  Short of a roof lightbar, regular lighting should be okay.

Corrected for clarity.... "This is MY PARKED Fiero we have here, not a tanker truck"
so that the taillight issue is moot! It's still hasn't moved! heheh!
 :D :D :D
Sandy
I'd go with the mustard lens on thwe outside as well!

No backup lights there.  Considering a small 'shadow' box in the centre section.  Just trying to come up with something to go in there.

Backups either in  the reflector spots or a fog mounted under the car.

Gary...perhaps these lights (http://"http://www.baxters.com.au/HTML/Images/Lighting%20Catalogue%20PDF/Stop-Tail-Reverse%20Lights.pdf") could be used?

I think yellow on the outside and then a red is very nice like a ferrari f40 has.  On my car im going with 2 covette tailights there oval not round and will put a rectangular back up light in between them.
