Title: 2.8 problem Post by: lsixtyseven on August 24, 2007, 07:12:21 pm My 2.8 won't rev above 4000 rpm under load, but will in neutral, anyone have any ideas? Tried going up a steep hill today almost didn't make it.

Mine did that a few times in the last 20 years. It starts like that and quickly gets worst. Both times, the problem was traced back to a clogging catalytic converter. Easy test - open up your exhaust past the Y pipe, put on a good set of hearing protector and go for a ride. If you can go over 4000 rpm... I'd take a good look at that cat ! No more etesting so I guess you could hollow it out if you wanted.
