Ok,

I know this question was asked numerous time, but I'm still not sure...

I want to go back to my stock rim... why!! for the look.

Now what is the widest I can go?

Someone in montreal is running 265/50R15 all around...

Any help would be really appreciated.

Coilovers?   265 is pretty wide.  The stock springs would likely hit the rubber.

good point, I will ask him if he as stock suspension.

What is the widdest I can go?

The Mickey Thompsons which Sock Rocker had on the back of his car last year were unusually wide against the 14" turbofan wheels.  I know he has a lowering kit in the car, but can't remember if they're stock-like springs in the rear or coilovers.

Stock?  Then 245-255 on rear.  Depending on tire model and camber angle.
Do not go wider than 215 on the front.  I could talk to you for an hour or so on why not, but here's one sentence. There's no advantage and will cause more overstear.

Sorry! Stock Rims?  225 rear, 205 front.

If I keep my 17 inch rims, what can I use?

Diameter of the rim doesn't matter.  How wide are the fronts and the rear rims.  I'll bet you have same width for both....you shouldn't.

If your rims are 7" wide you are stuck with a really hard range to buy for because you can only go from 205 to 225.  You are most likely going to end up with the same tire front and rear.  Good luck!

You want 6.5" to 7" wide in the front and 8" to 9" wide in the rear.

Your best combo depends on your weight distribution, and camber angles.

I have 16" rims that are 7" wide.  I have a 235 mounted on the back with no mounting problems and I think I could have a 245 if the offset was less.

He has stock springs and he has 265 on stock rims with no problem.   O0

This is the car with 265/50R15 tire all around...  owner is Carlo  O0 from Montreal Fiero Club

now that a nice car.(my car).let me just clear everythig out. it over a year i have those tire and they fit just perfectly.i have one issuse and it because my car got in to a accident before i got it and it seam that the front side of the driver side is lower the the passager.the driver side touches the inner panel when i hit bump. but that gona be fix.(my front suspension it very low.considering)

Let me clear a few things up.  I didn’t say you couldn’t put wider tires on the front, I meant that you shouldn’t because it increases the cars tendency to overstear.   Offset tire widths front and rear is the way to correct this problem.

I also didn’t say that you couldn’t put wider tires on 7” rims, I simply omitted that you shouldn’t because it always leads to a long winded conversation on why not to.  Here’s the short version.  It changes the stability of the tire and therefore the characteristics of the tire under axel (sideways) loads.  This changes the way the tire will act matched with the other tires on the car.  Basically you may experience a wobbly rear end (really bad for overstear).

With my 17 inch rims
205 to 215 front
215 to 225 rear

Is this right?  O0

One more question, If I stay with my 17 inch rims, but I would like to have a smaller gap between the wheel and the tire (rear only) using the stock suspension;

Can I do
225/50 R17 ?
or 225/55 R17 ?
or 225/60 R17 ?
