The maximum tire width which will fit on the stock suspension depends upon the width and offset of your wheels. I have no experience with 88s, but on the pre-88 models a 255/40 tires on a 17" x 8" wheel with +35mm offset leaves about a finger width of room between the inner sidewall and the strut. Considering i bought this car with 4 different tires, mind you low quality, the ride performance is immaculate. plus i must say it looks amazing.

Car is lowered 1 inche and a 12 inches Big Brake kit is installed. Adjustable coil over at the back. I also have done a lot of looking around for rims. Ultimately they are hard to find. In the last 5 years I think I've only come across 6 different sets (4 of them aren't even made anymore) that would work and they were all too narrow in the rear. (I think 7 wide in front and 8 in rear was the best I found) To brake the cycle I'm going with Vette rims. 17 x 8.5 wide in the front and 18 x 10.5 wide in the rear. Funny thing is, tires will be cheeper. Also. for several hundred more you could just get custom rims. Ultimately you are going to spend way more on tires anyway. |
