Title: Throttle cable heat shielding Post by: tweeder on August 07, 2012, 01:25:07 am What all are you shielding your cables with? My exhaust is wrapped. The cable had a plastic tube over it, then what looks like a length of 1/4" thick hose and a heat shielding blanket. With all that, I still melted the inner liner. I'm waiting on a replacement cable and don't want it it happen again. Also I find that exhaust wrap isn't enough protection. You really should use a double walled exhaust header and cross over/down tube. . There wasn't enough room to move the cable over top of the engine. I replaced it with a new one that for some reason is 1/2" shorter. So I had to move the bracket up more so the engine wouldn't idle at 2000rpms. In doing this I left enough slack to be able to have the cable sit over top of the throttle body. |
