Title: Performance Sound Post by: dguy on March 10, 2003, 01:41:11 pm Managed to get my hands on a complete OEM sub system back in... December? Somewhen like that...
When it arrived I noticed that the foam surround on the OEM speaker was toast, so I ordered up a replacement from Rodney Dickman. Finally got around to installing the CD/MP3 player & testing the system last weekend... wow. Stock front & headrest speakers, + the sub. Cleanest sound I've heard in a car in quite some time! Easy to get up into the head-splitting volumes too. Now I won't have to listen to those damn ricer boom-boxes at intersections. ::) Now to find a CD wallet that fits in the glove box nicely. ;) Title: Re:Performance Sound Post by: FieroBUZZ on March 10, 2003, 01:56:02 pm Nice! I keep meaning to pick up a set of speaker seats that I know of. Guess I'd better get off my butt.
BTW, you'll need the 'weee' song to scare the ricers away. Title: Re:Performance Sound Post by: Kevin on March 10, 2003, 02:01:18 pm Wheeeee!
Title: Re:Performance Sound Post by: dguy on March 12, 2003, 10:04:06 am Nice! I keep meaning to pick up a set of speaker seats that I know of. Guess I'd better get off my butt. I've had my eye on a pair of 4x10 Kenwoods for a while now, but the stock speakers will do until I have something in my toy budget again. As for the headrest speakers... I'm forcing myself to not touch those until I can afford to order up a set of leather upholstry from Mr. Mike's. ;) Only two things left before she's ready to come out of the garage... Replacing all the clutch pedal bushings, and figuring out why the alignment shop couldn't correct an obscene amount of negative camber at the RF wheel. Can't wait... our CR-V is useful, but otherwise rather boring to drive. Quote BTW, you'll need the 'weee' song to scare the ricers away. Apparently I need to be enlightened. The "Weee" song? ***later I should read more carefully. My mind's eye saw "speaker sets". :-[ I wasn't sure what to make of them when I bought the car, but I've come to like them quite a bit. With the right front/rear fade, they balance the system out nicely. Title: Re:Performance Sound Post by: fiero308 on March 12, 2003, 11:29:30 am when do you think you will be ordering the leather upholstery?
I am pretty interested but am thinking I would want to take some pix to local upholstery places and see if they can do something like it. I just find the duties and taxes and brokerage fees so much and so annoying; it isn't something that I feel I get any value for >:( I am thinking if two or more people try to go together they might get a break on something.... maybe shipping? I don't know. Worth thinking about... ::) ::) ::) edited by gp; some funny codes came out for some reason. Title: Re:Performance Sound Post by: dguy on March 12, 2003, 12:29:22 pm Certainly not this year... Maybe... big maybe next winter some time.
Title: Re:Performance Sound Post by: fiero308 on March 12, 2003, 12:37:00 pm well, let's keep that in mind; after all; it is about, what; $450US plus plus plus; it will shoot most of a grand when it is all said and done; no doubt.
I figure about a 75% premium now to convert everything to Cdn at our door. That is a lot to spend on seat covers; that is where a local upholstery shop might be worth a visit; once they figure ONE out then the rest would the exact same pattern I think. So it is worth a try; we (Ottawa Fiero Club) just need to make sure we go to the one place to get the possibility of the savings. Who knows; maybe an upholstery shop could do it for $500 Cdn or so; as long as it is decent quality leather and good stitching (a reputable shop should guarantee that) then it should work, I would think. ;) So joining forces is important; we should get some feedback from people who might be interested; vinyl; cloth; leather; they would all be the same pattern I would think. my 2 cents Title: Re:Performance Sound Post by: dguy on March 12, 2003, 01:28:56 pm that is where a local upholstery shop might be worth a visit; once they figure ONE out then the rest would the exact same pattern I think.
