Title: Interior Post by: JetJumper on April 20, 2003, 03:07:44 pm Does anyone know prices on the Sun Roof Weather stripping, and if it is a standard item you can pick up at a hardware store. I tore apart my interior because it needed to be replaced. Sping time is here so Out with the old, in with the new. Whats a good Vinyel Paint? I want to paint some things too.
Also, with the new people on the board...Anyone got a spare Electric Mirror switch that they don't want?! Title: Re:Interior Post by: Sentinel on April 21, 2003, 11:35:47 am Just to bring this up again from Rebel:
Protecting Door, Front Lid, Trunk and Especially Sunroof and T-Top Seals Required Items: Simple Green (has no harsh chemicals) Small brush (an old toothbrush will work fine) lots of rags bucket of water Castor Oil Begin by cleaning the seal you want to protect with Simple Green. Dip the brush into your bucket of water and lightly scrub the seal to get dirt out of the pores. Wipe the seal dry and let it set for about an hour to air dry. Pour some Castor Oil onto a clean rag and rub it into the seal. The seal will not absorb it all right away so leaving a little 'shine' is okay. Castor Oil will soak into the seal, keep it soft and pliant and, make it swell slightly. If you've had a wind 'whistle' or leak, it will probably stop after this application. I repeat this on my car about three times per year. That's it ! Note: Castor Oil will stain your clothes, permanently. It will leave a mark on your side windows, temporarily. You can clean your windows after about a week. If it protects F-4 canopy seals at Mach 1.2 @ 40,000 feet, I figured it would work on a Fiero. It's worked on my cars for the last 30 years. You've spent about $3 and 2 hours. Your seals are like new and that annoying whistle/leak is gone ! And as for your paint: I just saw that Krylon, an excellent brand of spray can paint now release a plastic and vinyl paint. Its called Krylon Fusion. Should be able to get it anywhere you can get Krylon spray paint. Id have to recommend it without trying it out because Ive always been satisfied with Krylon products. An auto paint supply store will also mix interior colors for use in a spray gun, but it will be substantially higher priced. or this: http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/029546.html Title: Re:Interior Post by: dguy on April 28, 2003, 07:55:10 am Simple Green (has no harsh chemicals) Isn't this a P.C. (President's Choice) product? Trying to get an idea of what stores may carry it...Title: Re:Interior Post by: Sentinel on April 30, 2003, 08:11:39 pm http://www.simplegreen.com/

Title: Pardon my ignorance, but... Post by: dguy on May 08, 2003, 09:27:40 am ...what the heck is "Castor Oil", and where do you get it?
I made the mistake of asking at a hardware store, and was directed over to an aisle which had a shelf full of Castrol. ::) Title: Re:Interior Post by: FieroBUZZ on May 08, 2003, 12:01:53 pm Hehe! Young fart!!!!! ;D
Castor Oil is a plant oil (as in vegetable) commonly used (like the famous cod liver oil) to clean you out. You might try a pharmacy. Back in the old days the Brits ran castor oil in their race cars. The oil evidently has better hot performance, although it does tend to gum up the works. Race motors were regularly cleaned anyway. There was a racing two cycle oil for bikes. I'm tempted to say that that's where they got the Castrol brand name from but can't swear to it. If you had ever attended a race (the mini guys here used it in solo) you'd never forget the stench. They used it in open cockpit aero engines and the pilots never had bowel problems ;D Well, no constipation. Title: Re:Interior Post by: dguy on May 09, 2003, 12:31:09 pm tendjewberrymud
If you don't understand this, do a Google search for "tendjewberrymud" and read all about it. :) Title: Re:Interior Post by: JetJumper on May 09, 2003, 04:01:47 pm Thats a funny word for where it came from :)
