Title: ontario parts catalogs available
Post by: fiero308 on April 24, 2003, 08:27:36 am
hi all
I have asked for and rec'd parts catalogs from 2 (of 3) ontario suppliers of custom and racing parts.  I asked for some extra copies that I can lend out.  I am waiting for the 3rd; should be in soon I hope.
the sources I have are:
Bear's Engineering; Rears, Gears and axles; also suspension and brakes (incl Wilwood); tend to be oriented towards drag-racing;  they are somewhere around London I think and I have bought a number of things over the yrs; very helpful on the phone;

Horton's Rods (havn't got their catalogs yet but hopefully very soon); they are also in the same general are of the province (hmm - must be longer summers there) and I have their contact #s etc;

Bicknell Racing Products from St Catherines; lots of stock car type stuff; radiators; racing and hi perf; fuel cells; more roundy-round than drag type;
I will try to bring a spare catalog to the mtg so at least people can flip thru it and get an idea of what is avail without having to pay for exchange and duties etc.
If anyone is interested before that email me and I will see what i can find; maybe scan a pic or whatever.
so we are developing a technical library!!!! 8)

there are some pretty cool parts avail; gets me all hot to spend money!!!! :o which is the whole idea..........  but it is neat to look thru!
re: OTHER technical books - I have a bunch; on handling, suspension design, frame, metal working, brake system, electrical, fuel injection and electronic ignition and more, and I am not specifically averse to lending, .................BUTTTT ..................
I am not sure how to best set up a "LENDING" situation - like everyone, I have been burned on not getting things back.... maybe you have had experiences like that, so you know where I am coming from.
But I am very happy to share any info possible and will do that at every opportunity.
 ;D

I rec'd a few copies from Horton's Street Rods of Breslau (near Waterloo?) ON; they probably fill any gaps from the other two catalogues.
Using these three catalogues I think a person could build a pretty good race car.
Aluminum rads, rod ends, SS brake lines, coil over shocks, roll bars, all sorts of neat stuff.
I will bring them to the meeting Sat nite so people can have a look.
