It's a wishbone, make a wish.  I think those welds will be to weak to support that corvette wheel. ;D

ok
I will take 5 and weld them solid.  I wasn't going to because I am trying to save on the electricity used in welding..... ;)
Interesting that you brought this up because I did a 'tack' test to see how good my welding 'rod' (it's a mig) would bond to the main material.
This is the result.  You will see the 'test' tack in the center - it is about a 1/4" dia tack weld - and then I bent the steel in the vise until 'something happened'...... in this case the tack held perfectly and the steel (that is .135 wall roll cage tubing in case you are wondering) failed in shear.  That is perfect.  I am happy with that.  So that is what I will be welding it solid with.  Aaron was out and had a look at these things and couldn't get over the poor quality of the original metal used in the control arms.....
and that is supposed to last 20 yrs and 200,000 km or more?  ::)
just thought someone would be interested...... 8)

Just kidding, I know you weren't finished, I,m sure it will be much better than stock once you're done.
Good luck :)

oh I know; and you are right, ... I batted this one around in my head for a LONG time before finally figuring out exacalacally HOW I would do it; and WHEN it is done (actually a long ways from it yet) it will be VERY good.
I have a bit of background in stuff like this I guess so I am not going to be happy with just anything carrying me 'n my car around..... so to speak..... but I am pretty pleased with it so far.  Fits in the cradle perfect.  The jig worked great.
 ON THE DOWNSIDE
one of my main clients met me this aft and he has TWENTY FIVE projects suddenly.... so I guess I am taking yet ANOTHER break from the fun stuff to make some money........ ::) ::) ::)  oh well.
means I might have some money to spend on the car in Sept.........
