Seems that mine now has about 1.5cm of a broken tap jammed deep inside one of the mounting holes for the TPS.   Angry

Drilling a hardened steel tap out of an aluminum throttle body without a press is...    Roll Eyes

This sounds like a good excuse to buy a new power tool.

Trust me if I could figure out where to put a drill press, I'd have bought one a year or two ago.  Smiley

I'll look in the back!  I know I did, but may have given it away.

Just stick that 3800SC in there and be done with that old useless 2.8. If not I have at least one or two out in the garage. Dan

Where you using lube when you broke that tap?

Yup, always do.  It felt like it caught on something just before breaking, though I have no idea what.  Not that it would take much force; the tap was for a 4mm hole.

I may have a handle on things now though.  I was able to drill out the area around the tap without wrecking the TPS's mounting post and extract the little beast.  I'm filling the crater with JB weld at the moment and inserting a heli-coil for good measure.  I don't see why it won't do the trick; the only force it has to withstand is that of the TPS's return spring.

In any case if it fails, I'm sure someone above will hear from me.  Smiley  Thanks guys!

Those little suckers are a pain.

I have some tips but I won't post these secrets, you'll have to wait for a face to face (or call).
