A warning to any Grand Am ownere especially the 96 to 98 model, the windshields and front cowels are known to leak water into the car which can cause the air bag control module to short out and deploy the air bag.
I found out the hard way as the driver's side bag in my car went off while driving it just after christmas, the damn thing went off blowing both my hands off the steering wheel and slamming me into my seat.
I can tell you for sure those darn things pack a solid punch and hurt quite a bit when you get stuck in ones path. Dan

Not to mention hearing damage!  I hate those things.

Good to know Dan.  I usually disconnect those things once 10 years old, but I think I'll amend that to ASAP.

Thanks.

Aaron

Your only limitations are set from within, by a lack of vision.  But to have vision alone leaves the process idle.  Ergo, without action your thoughts are worthless.

I'll add in GM's penchant for having the car lock it's doors when in gear.  I got out of the Achieva while trying to move it out of it's comfy snowbank.  The wind blew the door shut and guess who only had spare ignition keys.

Good part is I discovered I enjoy sledgehammers almost as much as angle grinders.  Evil

Wait 'till bug season, and tell them that it's the genuine biker experience on four wheels.   Grin

On the air bags...  I don't know how VW fares when it comes to reliability of the things, but I am tempted to disable the side bags in the Bug now and again.  The side airbags are contained in the outer part of the upper seat bolsters, and apparently deploy conveniently at an elbow-shattering location for anyone who either declines to jam their elbows in to their rib cage while driving or has shoulders which are wider than your average runway model.   Roll Eyes
