Tires?
«

I've got my new rims. They are stock 16" 5 spoke Z-24 rims. I think they are 6" wide. I don't know much about tire sizes. What is the widest I can go? I don't want to go too low profile, maybe 60 or 50 series. Ideas? Opinions?

Your going to have problems with this one. Those rims just aren't wide enough, I wouldn't recomend using them.

You can use them I just wouldn't recoment it.
Basically look at this link. It lets you know what rim whidth you need for what tire size.
I found this using google. (about half way down)
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tirespecskey.jsp
and this one with reference tables.
http://www.yokohamatire.com/utrimwidth.asp
Read up, it's important if your going to dive hard on your tires.

Good charts!
So basically I can use anywhere from a 195/50/16 to a 225/50/16
So a 205 or 215 would probably be best.
I'm not really worried about the width. Some of the 60's cars had 400hp and weighed three times as much using 6" rims. I personally would not recomend putting a V8 in a Fiero either but people do and are quite happy with them.
Thanks for the info.

This is a general chart, make sure when you buy your tires you ensure that they are recomended for your rim width. Many manufacturers have tighter restrictions that the one shown.
Cheers,
Aaron
P.S. put wider tires on the rear!
