Anyone hear anything bad about a dogbox transmission?  Ever since I heard about them I really wanted to put one together.

What I was thingking was gears 1 to 4 staight cut and helical cut on 5.

What's not to like?

All the relatively low-loss benefit of a manual transmission, with shifting speed approaching that of a race-configured automatic.  It has been a proven transmission design in motorcycles for longer than I can remember, working as reliably with peaky high-revving engines as it does with low-rpm torque monsters.
