Mia: March 17, 2010- The Safety

« on: April 10, 2010, 08:17:15 pm »

I went to the beach a few years back with my buddy in my 87 Se.
I was having some issues with cooling and what not, but I knew how to handle them and it usualy was a matter of venting the air to bring down the heat so i could get it wherever I needed to and have a look see.

However this day was somewhat different and most unfortunate... that is for my friend who was riding passenger.

we were coming back from the beach and suddenly as my temp gauge started to rise I cranked open the Vent. Sure enough the air came out ice cold and I knew something was definitely wrong, but I stayed the course. Home was only 5 minutes away, but there was a gas station just at the next light. I figured, pull in there and take a look.

Not 5 seconds after I decided this did my friend start screaming in his seat yelling out "My legs are burning!  Shocked Roll Eyes my Legs are burning!" I look over and through my vent pissing out lime green was my coolant. I blew my Heater Core and when I turned on my vents it just water wheeled it into the cabin.

I felt pretty bad for my friend who wasn't burned just really shocked Angry as he, unlike me knows nothing about cars and everything he owns is new and shiny lol.

We laugh about it now but at the time it was like something rivetting out of TOP GUN Cool as we carreened into the Gas station all covered in hot slimy Ecto Green Fluid.  Cheesy

So we filled the rad with water to get it home, and we closed the vents. My friend got a big gulp from the station and he held it to catch the rest of the vent fluid from the dash as we drove home.

Now thats a friend. lol. He since forgave me for that one. Afro

Good friends are hard to come by,
I have one like that, we were at a GTG when I foolishly damaged my car.
he drove me the 100 km or so home for another part and back then helped me fix my car.
We both ended up missing out on most of the GTG but he did not mind at all, now that is what I call my good friend. Dan

I have a good friend also, that spotted a Shiney red fiero on the side of the 401.
That friend, rented a trailer, pulled the car to his place, drove me to the train station.
He then fixed my car...  Afro
