Hi, Welcome to the forum!
I have an 87 GT just like you, I never had to passed any e-test. You still have to make the safety test when it changed owners. (Except if the car stays in your immediate family, or if you are importing it and you are the first Canadian owner)
This is why even if the 88 GT is "The best Fiero year", I'm not a big fan on getting one. When the car was 20 or 25 years old (I don't remember correctly), it was exempt of the e-test but here is the twist. At the year 88, every vehicle (Even if older than 20 - 25 years old) has to be e-tested every 2 years. They do not apply to the exemption rule and will have to be e-tested every 2 years until you get rid of the car.
So basically, your car being an 87 you are exempted from e-tests.

Welcome to the forum. No you do not need an E-test.
I do because I have an 88, but I'm trying to fix that by getting a clean vin off an older car. So far no word from Eric.

A fiero owner with an actual shop in the area is a good thing.
What kind of work does your shop do? How big is it?
