they make school harder,''let's take the 13th grade off to save money'' so they make 11th and 12th grade alot harder by compacting it all.  And, now you need to eb in school to have your driver's??? i think they're playing too much with our minds (teens).

they make us stay in school.  what happened to letting us decide, and make us WANT to be in school(not saying that i dont).  Since the 13th grade has been removed i find school ALOT harder, it changed my whole career choice actualy.  i went from wanting to be a engeneer to machinist.  i am now failing some of my classes (2/3) which i'm embarresed of and going to get night school to catch up, but i'm not going to drop school.  Some people have problems, don't learn as easily then others, My cousin in cornwall didn't finish highschool because he couldn't learn like the others, so he droped out and went to work at a factory.  all the ppl that droped didn't for no reason.   I think they're making life harder for those who's life is already hard.  i find they're ruinning it for the kids.  I serously dont like the the education system, i get a hardcore quebecer gym teacher as my english teacher,  i get a drama teacher for french.....  I have this one teacher i can absolutly not get good grades with, in my strongest subject(maths) and i ended up with her 3 years strat.  Alot of courses only come once a year, physics, quemestry, the 3 maths, etc.... therefor if one overlaps the other, your screwed.   or if your in 11th grade and one slot empty because no courses you in there are anygood for you, well guess what, you HAVE to take a verry hard course just because you can't have a free period in 11th grade!...

and then they wonder why more ppl are dropping out?.... well i think they need to stop changing all the rules and letting us go at our own pace, they should know now that in school riots can start preatty easily just by passing a few notes in class.

I think they should stop pushing us before we trip over and fall in the mud.

Alex
just my $0.02
BTW: I'm ok with being a machinist Smiley

What he ^^^^^^ said.

In my (limited) experience, kids aren't leaving school because they want to limit their future.  They're doing it out of frustration at what has become an unforgiving and compacted cirriculum.

It wasnt getting rid of Grade 13 that made school harder. It was the new ciriculum that was instated. This goes from primary school all the way through the end of Highschool. What They are trying to do is create an educated younger class which will grow up and be able to contribute to Canada on a world class level.

About the Liscense thing, I see no problem with having to be 18 to get your liscense.. of course once you get it at 16 or 17 while in school, you could just drop out after you have already got it. Plus alot of the poeople who would drop out also will probley drive whether they have their liscense or not..

removing the 13th grade made me feel like the black sheep, i made plans on staying and everyone else were going on cus there was no more 13th.  almost like the option was removed.  unless you ask for it specificly you wont have it as an option anymore.  but then your just redoing your 12th grade, making you feel not dumber and having classes with the people one grade lower then you : / ...   they might've changed the curriculum, i'm not aware of it although we have seen alot of changes latly in our courses.  I find the goal of creating a educated younger class is good.  Pushing kids to grow smarter, defenetly.

the kids that find the early classes easy in elementary school can get chalenged (a good thing) and will be able to learn more and at there own advanced pace.  But, it's also pushing more attention to the kids having good grades, what happen to all the other kids that that found it diffecult before, it's now even harder...   they have a good goal but i find that they're not doing it right.   like in cars, your fiero cruise would only go as fast as the slowest fiero(to not leave anyone behind), and if one leaks coolant or oil, we stop to help them out, see what the problem is and fix it to get it back on the road.  we wouldn't just leave them there and go even faster, would we?
