Luckily my kid have been with me through most of this, also a good thing the ex did not have a key to the garage or she would have pilfered all my car tools like she did most of the wood working tools that were in the basement that were left to me by my father when he passed long before I even met the sow. Courts are very messed up these days all a women has to do is say you did some thing and you are pretty much toast or can expect years and massive lawyer bills to clear your name.
For me I am grateful the Judge in the end saw enough of their lies to end this properly. Dan

Let me know if you're still looking for a place to rent, we just put our house up for sale but were considering putting it up for rent. 3Bd+2Bth+Garage, beside schools and Centrum in Kanata.

Thank you. I Have been hoping it would not come to this but it is looking like I will be leaving Peterborough area. As of this morning I am now definitely looking so do you have any ideas on rent costs at this point and of course I still have to wait till family court is over next month to see if there is any restrictions on me and where I live with my kids after it is all over.
Also does any one know if any area schools have the gifted programs for my oldest Daughter so her education does not suffer from the move. Dan

Average rent cost for a condo in Kanata with the same specs would range from ~1000-1500. Another option is renting or getting a mortgage on a home in a community such as Greely or Carleton Place. We recently had a relative who purchased a fairly large home with a double garage and a pool in Carleton Place for $190,000. Its best to just keep an eye on Ottawa's out-skirting towns/communities for bargains. If you want to make a solid investment then I suggest looking in the Old Ottawa South, Old Ottawa East, Sandyhill and in the Golden Triangle; though the housing is much more expensive, with downtown real-estate your property value only increases and plateaus.

If FieroFlyer Jr. isn't in High-school then there's Clifford Bowie, an elementary school. If she's in high-school then all schools in the Ottawa area are really good when it comes to accommodating for learning disabilities. I suggest the public board would be best though, I've attended both Catholic and Public High-schools and found the teachers and staff at the public board were a lot more understanding and respectful. I suffered from a speech impediment, stammering, when I was younger.

.... accommodating for learning disabilities.....

Church,

It's the other way around, FieroFlyer Jr. is a gifted child, she needs a schooling level way above what is normal for her age.

You have to be careful with the wording you use in the ottawa area as we are controlled by mindless politicians.  Special ed was renamed in a number of schools to the "gifted children program".  How is anyone supposed to keep it straight now?

Bunch of dilwads!

Your only limitations are set from within, by a lack of vision.  But to have vision alone leaves the process idle.  Ergo, without action your thoughts are worthless.

Try and get help with a child that is behind and they go out of their way in today's schools, try and get an advanced child some extra work or more advanced and they run and hide.
Fought the school system for years to get my daughter tested and when they did she being only in grade 5 at the time tested well above a grade 12 level on all subjects in the 99th percentile.
Which from what I have been told means if you stick her in a room with 100 other gifted kids you might find one smarter then her but seeing as there is no 100th percentile it is doubtful.
So yes I am very proud of my Daughter as well as her sisters.
The gifted program she is now in is a joke but at least she is kept some what busy to keep her love of learning alive till she gets out of the system and into a good university. Dan

"Gifted" is quite the broad adjective Tongue I attended Trinity then Lisgar for their "gifted" program and then Earl. The workload that the students are assigned is essentially two years ahead. Being in the advanced programs does have its downfalls when attending reputable schools such as Lisgar, I finished with a 82 average and had to go back this year in order to raise my average to a 83 in order to be accepted into OttawaU for Mechanical Engineering while my mates who attended regular high-schools in Kanata half assed their way through and managed to pull +85's resulting with a reward of $2000 in tuition. Side Note: I worked my rear off as well, I just happened to land a schmuck of a teacher who gave me a 76 because I didn't kiss his ass and stood up for my self when he exploited my speech impediment by consistently asking me to read out load to the class, which might I add was followed by him mocking me with his classic impression Porky the Pig's "That's all folks!". Point is that if you want your daughter to be accepted into a reputable university and benefit financially, its best to send her to a regular high-school.

Two only schools that I know of which have a gifted program. Both require you to write an essay and attend an interview.

Hope that helps you out Dan!
