well i have a 84 2m4 fiero and i have a lead on a 2.8L with 15XXX km's on it for cheap. How much work is it to change from a 2.5L to the 2.8L

like do i  need to change computers, or drivetrain or anything?

Thanx for your help

Good News....yes you can switch.

Bad news......  It isn't easy.

84 Fieros did not come with a v-6.  The cradle will need some things added to mount the 2.8.  The electrical system was redesigned in 85, moving the main junction from the engine compartment firewall to the side by the battery.  You need to relocate the 84 system to get it away from the heat of the manifold.  ECM and tach (crystal or change to v-6 instrument pack).  Odds and ends.  If you have a v-6 donor the job is better as you should have all the parts.

I think Dan's car went to a 3.1 so he can probably better describe the details.

He'll tell you it's just as easy to add a 3800.  Grin

Most rear wheel drive 2.8's I believe are compatible except the starter bolts on the opposite side which can be fixed by redrilling block on the appropriate side. If it is a cast iron head engine Fiero top end bolts right on, with aluminum heads there are differences.
