I have an 86 GT and I pulled the doors apart to replace the mirrors, door handles and the door locks. Anyway, I have it all but put back together and I can lock it with a key or inside and then unlock it without any trouble unless the outside door handle is pulled on, then I need to keep sliding the door lock bar back and forth to get it to unlock, I greased the crap out of it and tried to work it in but it didn't help much, any ideas!?!?!?!?

The door handle bar and the door lock cyclinder bar would touch when the door handle was pulled open which moved the lock bar just far enough. Its all better now.

So was it just worn?  Or did someone do something they shouldn't have?

Your only limitations are set from within, by a lack of vision.  But to have vision alone leaves the process idle.  Ergo, without action your thoughts are worthless.

The lock never worked when I got the car so I replaced the lock cyclinders, I looked like the small clip that holds on the bar lock broke and then he "1 owner" put the window down and bent the bar. I bent it back so there was no slack or so it wasn't lose but it was touching the other like I said. So no worries about everyone having this problem. It drove me nuts though!
