Have an 84 Fiero which I am fully rebuilding good and strong for a 3800SC car. I plan on taking about a year to fully rebuild and customize this car. Now I tried selling my 3800SC 86 SE Fiero but no one was interested so what I am considering is pulling the drive train out of the 86 rebuild the engine with lots of extras and instal it into the 84.  Question is do you think there would be any interest in my 86. I will be leaving it intact minus drive train but as I plan on rewiring the 84 I am going to be leaving the complete 3800SC harness in the 86. All someone would have to do is buy them selves a 3800SC engine and tranny and bolt it right in, everything else is already there. Opinions please. Dan

There can be no harm in trying.  Just post the car for sale and indicate that it has been prepped for a 3.8 sc.  If it sells, cool, if it doesn’t then you have your answer.

Would it be worth your time & money to drop the 86 over top of an unmodified L67?

Selling it without a drivetrain will likely only appeal to people looking for a parts or project car.  Selling it in a driveable form will almost definitely catch more fish...

Tried selling it complete with 3800SC but there was very little interest and I am not willing to give it away as some would suggest. Dan

Silly question--you listed it in more places than just this forum, right?   Smiley

I also listed it on Pennocks, was going to put it in the auto trader but I hate doing that. You get all kinds of idiots wanting to test drive the hell out of it or people saying they will be there at a certain time and never show up. I hate waiting for any thing, patience is not one of my strong points. If it wasn't for the crooked insurance companies I would keep it. Wife is getting liscence so you know how it works two vehicles two drivers, bend over time. Dan

hi Dan
read the thread - just wondered how hard it is to find another SC3800?  Wouldn't it then be easier to sell ie in Toronto, if it was complete and running?  I tend to agree with Don about it having fairly special appeal if there is no engine etc.  That would cut your market back a lot even tho it would be a REAL easy swap for someone.
Yeah, people want to low ball everything, hoping for a miracle.
Good luck with whatever way you go on it!

I advertised my 85 for a while including the AutoTrader and got very little response. Had to get it out of the yard, so it went to a car dealer on consignment. On the lot and if they sell it they get $250. If not they get 0. Gets exposure for me and they create interest in their lot to prospective buyers. Good all the way around. There must be a private car lot in Bellville that would do the same sort of thing

How much would you be selling the gutted car for? And do you have any pics?

Basically she passed emissions April of this year so that is taken care of. Is in certifiable condition so price would depend on just how much of the car they want. It has the aero nose and Gt rear along with the factory rear wing. It has a mint grey interior, power windows and sun roof. All metal brake and tranny lines were new last year, everything is in good shape. I know that I could get a fair bit just for the parts but why not leave in tact that way any one could put a 3800SC back in and have a good car. Dan

Two options with the insurance company, you could opt to not tell them there was anything done to the car.  This might leave you up shit creek in the event that something happens but It’s all a gamble anyway.

However with specialty insurance you need more cars than drivers in the house and you not supposed to drive your car much at all.

How much for the whole car? If I appear interested, it's because I am Smiley
