LF: Cheap trailer

That's right!
I'm looking for a cheap trailer frame. prefferblay near the dimentions of 4' by 8'. light duty.

I don't care of the condition. it just has to be cheap. I want to rebuild and conver to a mobile car wash.

If it’s going to be a mobile car wash you might want to think twice about that light duty thing.  Water weighs a lot.  10 lb per gallon (or 2.2 lb/L).  It adds up really quick.

A mobil car wash you will need appox. 100 gal. of pressurized water and that going to be heavy.

ligt duty is still 2500lbs, 200gal will weigh approx 1700lbs.   still good!

Weight

600 lb – 2500 lb capacity trailer
1668 lb – 200 US gal of water (2000 lb for 200 Igal)
100 lb – water tank
200 lb – miscellaneous equipment

2568 lb – TOTAL

If you ask me that’s close.  Be careful, equipment add up really fast.  Make sure you’re not carrying imperial gallons or else you will be over by a few hundred pounds.

yeah just be sure; an imperial Gallon is just about EXACTLY 10 lbs.  (Just a tad over, IIRC).  200 Gal on a single axle could be a pretty hefty load.

and then the equipt to hold it will weigh some too..  Plus plus plus as Aaron said...  Most people call light duty the 500 to 1000 lb (capacity) variety.....
You might consider a tandem (if it is homebuilt) or even doing it yourself; Princess has all kinds of stuff for building trailers!  The nice thing about tandem is that it is REALLY EASY to move around yourself and tracks nicely.  If it is done right, there is no tongue load.

I need to keep the cost and weight down. After all, my Sunfire is doing the towing.   no gonna tow much with a 4cyl. *sigh*

The container weight next to nothy. made of poly. the white ones you see on trailers all the time. and I don't "have to" fill it to i's max.

Tandem sounds good. but I'm having a hard time finding any trailers in the $300 range, much less a tandem. and the axles at princess are $200+ each no tires! EEEEK! no to mention the metal for the frame, the hitch, elextrical. Yikes!


I just want a trailer that was sitting in someones back yard for X amount of years and have no use for it. Convert it to some quick $$$.

I once towed a 3/4 ton jeep truck loaded with building supplies 350 miles with a Honda Civic. The rope held and after the trip just did an oil change. Thank goodness that it was a standard as I am not sure if an auto would have done the trip in such a small hp car.

Something else to take into consideration is that water is available everywhere.  You could drive to sight with an empty tank and fill up on sight (or close to it).  This would eliminate your problem.

You're going to want to store that unit with an empty tank anyway because you don't want your springs to settle too much.
