As a further note, after one person has rented the meter two times it's free to borrow.

I can get these G-Techs too. might be able to give you a better price, and I can get them quicker than if you ordered it from the U.S.

I hadn’t actually sorted out where I was going to get this, but I was going to check with you on price first.  No worries there.

On another note, I see that over 100 views on this topic bun no one has decided that they don’t want to pay out for this item.  I find it hard to believe that everyone viewing this topic that’s also a member is willing to invest in it.

I need everyone to vote so that I know when I have a complete vote of active members.  This way I know when to make a decision.

As it looks now I'm going to go ahead with this.

Since there seems to be more interest as a rental (and voting is still open), I'm going to offer this as a $15 for two days rental. After a few rentals it will be free to borrow for two day periods.

If anyone has a better idea feel free to incert it below.

This should be in in about three weeks or so.

I have upgradded my choice to the G-Tech pro RR.  It has interface capabilities with your laptop.

well Aaron
it might be that a few people are not really sure about this (I still am not) and would rather err on the side of safety/economy/whatever, in case it is not something they can use or understand etc.  Do they need a laptop or anything else to make best use of it?
Does it require any special adapter of any sort on the car, for example?

So the category for them would be "I MIGHT use it .....one time?"

And that is my category, because I am not up on exactly what it will do for me; I don't plan on going to the strip so 1/8 or 1/4 mile times are not something I would count on; but lateral accel'n is interesting and so I am interested in that.
So I DID vote as using it but it will prob be once or maybe twice; have to see.  If I do want to rent it I would be happy to pay $15 each time; that is more than fair of you.  Whatever that is worth.......
But I will have to read up on it to see what it might do for me.
FYI

It’s really simple to use;
- Plug into cigarette lighter
- Stick to front windshield
- Press button to calibrate (while parked on flat ground), follow on screen instructions
- Scroll through menu to compare results

Even if you are completely incapable of storing results by hitting a button, then you can record your results manually.

All the laptop stuff is only for those that feel it would be helpful.  Anyone that can use a computer and has a laptop will have no problem with this.

hi Aaron
I like to think of myself as a bit past the stone chisel stage but I am not a techie, either.  Is the laptop simply for storing your entries and results from different tests/runs etc or is it to 'alter' the program to compensate for vehicle specifics or both?
(sort of like the timing and engine management programs out there)

Guys who get into chip burning and diagnostics are into ALDL cables (I don't have) and so on.  That is what I was getting at.  So this will just lead you thru and I expect that you select a menu for (ie) handling (lateral G's) or braking etc.  Sounds good and interesting.
I have taken/am taking some steps to have my car on the street next summer (it is going into a shop in the next couple of wks for a particular piece of work) so I MIGHT be at a stage to use it.

Will be interesting to see more info when you get it.

I think you’re getting the wrong idea here.  The laptop is not required for any reason.  The g-meter works as a regular g-meter but has the option of interface for those that want to record data for extended periods of time (over two hours). Or for those that want to share the data though the PASS software.  Or use a more comprehensive graph to view the data.  This is a function that I figure only 3 or so people will use.  However the ability to store your data on your PC (doesn’t need to be a laptop), and compare it to data recorded 2 years previously may be something 90% of people using the unit do.

Lets say for example that you want to test a Solo 2 run and compare it to another run.  First you start the G-Tech then do the run, and stop the G-Tech.  Save the results and repeat for multiple runs.  Then call up all the data, and the g-meter will show you nice comparative graphs that indicate that you did well in corner 2 and 3 (for example) in run 1 but better in corner 5 and straight away 3 in run 4.  You can then put them together from your memory of how you went into and out of those corners.
