I have recently become obsessed with Fieros. What should I check when looking at them ? problem areas etc.. I'm looking for a fastback gt. I understand that the 88 seems to be the most sought after. what changes were to the 88, or is it because it was the last year? Also what are the price ranges for good clean 87-88s.
Thanks

The 88's are somewhat coveted due to them being the only year where certain suspension improvements were available.

Common things to watch out for when shopping are...
  • the rusties having taken their toll on the frame rails above & behind the rear wheel wells
  • damage to the coolant tubes behind the rocker panels due to improper lifting
Beyond that... simply remember that you're looking at a 16-20 year old car which will have any number of problems due to age, previous owner abuse/neglect, etc.

Good Clean 86-87, about $2600.  Some people will ask up to $6000 for these but most aren't worth that.
Good clean 88 GT, $4000, most people will ask for $10 000, you have to decide for yourself if it's worth it.

Keep in mind that the price on these vehicles has hit it's bottom.  With all the passing years the price may just go up and up.

Deals do come up from time to time when you may do a much better price, but that's happening less and less these days.

Your only limitations are set from within, by a lack of vision.  But to have vision alone leaves the process idle.  Ergo, without action your thoughts are worthless.

I guess the best place to look is the "Sell Your Car" section of this forum or use Pennocks in the states for competative shopping.
