One of the ongoing probs I had with the safari was that on one or two plugs, the actual copper female spade receptacle (a 'mini' one - part of about 6 that were all incorporated into a single plug) had 'receded' within the black plastic holder so that only the very tip of it contacted the male prong. The result in my case was that it heated up and caused the entire switch to fail VERY prematurely. I replaced the switch 2-3X before finding this - it is NOT an obvious thing, visually; everything looks normal.
You MIGHT have something like that happening; just a suggestion; something to look out for. You have to disconnect the plug look inside it from the connection end to see anything; that is how I saw that one of the connections had been almost entirely pushed out.
