Got vacuum. Want boost.

« on: March 28, 2005, 02:44:12 pm »

Found out about it via word-of-mouth.  As far as I know it isn't listed anywhere at the moment.  Basically a stalled project that the owner's wife wants out of the driveway.  Wink

2.8L auto, 164,000km or so on the clock.

A/C, power windows, remote decklid release.  Clean grey interior whose only flaws are a seriously saging headliner, and seat bolster wear in the usual locations.

Exterior is red with grey ground effects, still shiney, and hasn't faded to pink yet.  No damage that I remember seeing.

It has trunk holes where you'd expect them; I didn't have the chance to check the upper frame rails for damage.  Another rust hole through the sheet metal behind C500, but the battery tray appears to be half-decent.

The owner is asking $500 for it; I have my doubts that he'll move from that price, but you never know.

No clue.  I don't think it has been driven more than half a dozen times in the last four years or so, and the guy who owns it didn't have any complaints about how it ran when he last had it out.  I don't know when that last run was however.

Had a look today before work.  Its been sitting for a while....rust rust rust....no rails, engine and trunk compartments in the usual locations, cradle is flaked good.  Front suspension flaked more.  Doors rotten at the bottom, some patch work with plate also.  Engine looked there more or less but didn’t look like it was a runner with a screw driver wedged somewhere in the location of the throttle body.  Shock and strut bodies rusted good, brakes looked frozen.  Interior was decent with usual wear on seat and saggy headliner.  Noticed an added light switch near the bottom of the dash, saw more wires in the front compartment to fan and lights.  Compartment was so-so decent but rust near the corners.  Probably good for parts but at $500 its on the steep side, imo.

out of curiousity did you tell the guy what you thought of it?  and did you show him all the rust?

Just wondering what sort of reaction you got out of him.  I know he was a little stunned when Don showed him a couple of the common rust holes in the trunk.

He wasn't home at the time, his wife(?) was.  I took a good look over and pointed out several key areas, mumbled a few things in the process.  She didn't seem too concerned with what I said, probably thinking I was talking to myself in some delusional state.   Apparently someone had an appointment the next day to take it to a garage for further inspection.  Pity that person, but oh well, not my problem.
