what is the main criteria? Cost? out and out hp? tire smoking torque? top speed/accel - 1/4 mile performance? Street? Track? Autocrossing? Will it be auto or manual? High end revs or low end stump pulling?
probably cost, tho'......... it usually is the biggie.
If you can put some parameters on it that would help; people have swapped in everything from dohc 4's to the usual 2.8's to 3.1's to 3.4 ohv and 3.4 dohc's and 3800 supercharged v6's to 350 chevs and 4.9 caddies and the northstar aluminum v8 and even a diesel and a bmw V12 is going on somewhere.  There are even a few big blocks stuffed into a couple ....somewhere.  And then people add turbos or nitrous for good measure........ and I am sure I have forgotten a few....... Roll Eyes
Not necessarily ALL right here but the info is almost that accessible.

so try to figure out how much you are willing to spend, how much work you want to or CAN do yourself, (if any?) and what you want out of it.  If you have to pay someone to do it, that will narrow the selection a bit; they will prefer to do one they know and have done before and generally have a single fave.

but good luck.......

He means the Ferrari rebody that he is looking at.

If you want a nice revvy Ferrari (sort of) sound then it either a 3.4 DOHC or a North*)  The Caddy is complicated and expensive.

The only other option I would consider is either a 3800 normally aspirated (to be turboed at a later date) or a 3800 s/c.

I would say that you're looking at least at 3-3500 labour for most plus the parts needed.  Fiero swaps are not a cheap bolt in of another car's motor, unless you can do all the work yourself.

To keep up with todays machines you will need at least 200 hp. Generally speaking, the more power =  more cost.

Fiero 308 is of my mind.  First one must ascertain the intended use of said swap then indicate it.  Only then useful advise can be given.

Well, Its manual transmission.
I dont need nothing to crazy that i cant afford.
It would be for street driving.
Looking in hp, approx 150 to 250hp.
Something with torque.
Dont understand to much about the low/high revs.
I think finding the engine might not be the biggest problem money wise.
Just worried about the labour.
I know enough about cars, but i would never attemped to swap a engine. Espacialy a fiero.

If you are not willing to spend a minimum of $3,000 or 300 hours, then best to put in a stock motor that is tuned up and maybe spend $800 on a nitro kit to get you your 200 hp  Azn

well this is where my knowledge of fieros and trans/motor combos comes to a screeching halt; I THINK that the trans on the 4 banger will bolt up to a V6 but maybe not???
But if so, then I think a 3.4 ohv would be one of the cheapest things he could do; I believe they are about 160hp stock; would be fun to drive with that; and one of the easiest (if not THE easiest) swap I can think of.
so
-about $750 for a good motor (guess?)
-begborrowsteal a starter drilling template (there are some around) $beer
-different motor mounts; V6 but stock ones; might be located around here somewhere; $50 from a wrecker?
-fiero V6 intake, etc and distributor and so on to adapt the camaro 3.4 to the fiero maybe $100 if you are lucky;
-gaskets and seals for new top end $40?
-wiring/new connections etc - there are a few people who have the TIME and ability to get that done; I dunno, maybe $500 for mods/hookups etc?? (WAG of course);
-rework/custom exh to fit new setup maybe $250 for piping plus Cat and muffler;
-misc parts, hoses, clamps, fittings, seals, all that sort of stuff; maybe $75
all above are totally unqualified guesses but it is my best guess at this moment...

Given your goals, something else to look at is swapping in a stock series 1 or 2 3800.

It would likely have the grunt to keep you happy (220-240hp depending upon the year), and we have a forum member out near Belleville (2ML67) who has installing those things down to a science if you're not interested in doing the work yourself.

Hello fiero lovers , i did my swap in about a week and that is a 3.8 from a 86-88 reagl / bonniville only mod was welding and redrilling the flywheel and making a front mount and splicing in the wiring harness, total cost of about 300.00 for the car and 80.00 to have the flywheel balanced , most expensive part was the 400.00 exhaust and that only has cat convertors no mufflers
