The damn belt has been squealing since last year, finally it really got to me this year . I was planning on the Rodney Dickman fix, but I built my own instead. Installed it today and squeal is gone, hopefully it will stay like that.

If you have a 2.8 and it doesn't squeel, the belt is either 5 minutes old or it's been over-tightened.  Wink

I'm guessing that's just an off-the-shelf idler pulley, and a homebrew bracket which mounts on over top of the water pump studs?

It bolts up to the alternator bracket beside the water pump, if you go to rodneys site you will  see a pic of how he does, I did it the same way only cheaper.

It's running pretty good, the door is still a different color, in time I will get to it. I will probably hit 300,000 km this year. Plans for an engine swap have to wait, life hasn't exactly worked out to my benefit, at least I'm still driving the fiero. Afro

Nice.  The last time I saw photos of Rodney D's piece, they were in-car and I couldn't tell how it was mounted.

How much fiddling was involved to align the pulley?

I have no patience so anything I do, gets done with plenty of swearing. This would probably be an easy mod for you Don, you seem to have patience. It's not perfectly aligned but it's still working, I could  probably align it better but it's holding so I will see how long it lasts.

Sorry Gary,  I hope your car(s) are coming along, and going back together Smiley  Maybe we will hook up at a Ottawa/TO/London getogether.
