Driving into work and around town this week and I couldn't imagine it this early.  Anyone else notice the crazy amounts of road salt around the place already!  Is it just me or has this area gone stupid with the stuff.... Cheesy

Road salt kills, use sand and learn how to drive.  Theres my 2 cents.

Amen brother Nick! I was wondering about the white stuff I have on my car and was thinking would they be daft enought to put salt down this early? Sure enough I saw some piles of it on one road leading into the city. And people complain about their residential taxes.

There were visible "tracks" on the 417 today from (I'm guessing) that liquid de-icing stuff as well.

Doesn't surprise me to see it out, as unfortunate as it is.  Relatively humid days + overnight freezes = relatively high probability of black ice for morning commuters.

Saw a spin out on Dwyer Hill.  Police car was blocking 1 lane so I had to stop.  Trying to change lanes, pass the scene and get back without spinning at about 5 KPH was interesting.

Heard that there was a bad accident near Pakenham as well.

Later heard the City of Ottawa guys say on the radio there was no black ice problem these mornings.   Sad

Yeah ok.  They should have tried the Ott. River Parkway eastbound at the Parkdale overpass (among other places).  Always a good spot for a slither or three.   Wink
