I have no problem with the name, seeing as it is based in or near Ottawa the name makes sense. The only problem I have is they closed the only good HOOTERS so our meetings are no longer there. Dan

Rumour has it that it was closed to prevent people from driving fast thru a dip in the parking lot.

Eastern Ontario Fiero Club (EOFC)

Hey that looks familiar.   Azn

Look out, here comes the guy who types a lot.   Tongue  My thoughts...

I think that to some extent two distinct things are getting blurred together here.  "Club Name" vs. "something to print on a t-shirt".

With respect to the club name, I don't feel that something as encompasing as calling ourselves the "Ontario Fiero Club" is appropriate.  As spread out as we are, we are not representative of the province.  Heck even if we were to join with the GTA club the combined groups would still only be a very small piece of the pie.  Media spins aside, there is more to Ontario than everything to the east of the GTA.  Smiley

The name "Ottawa Fiero Club" is a result of how the club started.  Is it geographically accurate given our current (active) membership?  Hell no.  Ottawa is our origin, but is by no means any indication of attempted exclusivity.  Personally I would rather not see the name changed; I'm comfortable with it as is.

Now with respect to the t-shirts, if there's enough interest in a generic/non-OFC design which could be shared with other groups, then do it.  Perhaps though it would be wise to, well, ask these other groups if they would be interested first?   Huh  Fiero memorabilia is already available in spades via eBay, and a couple of vendors on PFF.  It wouldn't surprise me if, were we to offer something of our own, that it would simply become part of the greater mass and ultimately fade in to obscurity.

Comedic and commerative t-shirts aside, I look upon logo'd shirts as being a means of representing the displayed item/organization.  To that end, rather than something generic I would prefer that our chosen shirt design incorporate whatever we choose to identify ourselves by.

GOD!!!!! Now I know why your the Prez  Afro  You're sooo articulated....

I suspect it will be a hard sell to get rid of a dozen shirts, let alone asking outsiders what they think.  If there are a couple of leftovers and someone is willing to buy, great.  If they want something to their tastes, let them make them themselves.  Tongue

Whoops...hit Post by accident.

It doesn't really matter what the club name is.  It really is for us, rather than anyone else.  Mostly due to the fact that no one else cares.   Cry

I don't think this one is taken

World Organization of Fieros   or WOOF for short

Of course after much contemplation (in the office, on the throne) I have come to realize the ideal name was right there in front of us all along.  What boneheads we are.   The winner is    ...........   .............   Embarrassed

I'll tell you later.  But it's perfect......it's generic........it's fantastical........   Afro

How 'bout we centralize it and make it the Kingston Fiero Club - or KFC for short?   Afro

Depends entirely upon whether or not "finger-lickin' good" comes in to play.   Cheesy

Hmmm...

You said it is "fantastical" and to look up.

If we go with your Fantastic Plastic idea from an earlier post and then "look up" to the top of this page to see a posting about HOOTERS...well....maybe my mind is sliding off the road, but that would be some sort of Fastistic Plastic Hooters logo.   Azn

I tried that, but it doesn't help.  Last night I could see joists, wiring, and spider webs.  Right now I see ceiling tiles & flourescent lights.    Huh

I still don't think we should change the name.

People usually change things in an effort to achieve different results.  However; this time a change, changes nothing and will only serve to confuse others.

To affect proper change, first identify what it is, you so desperately feel is out of place and address that issue.  Then determine if a change in regards to that issue is even possible.  Changing things on a whim or hunch in the face of arguable success might serve to damage an image of reliability, which is often one of the preferred attributes to a commitment in the first place.

Change with the times can be good.  Change for the times is usually frivolous.  Change for the sake of change is just annoying.

Fine, I said it.
