Notchie to GT rebody.

As I mentioned in another thread I bought  a 86 notchie an a 87 GT shell. I Got both from T.O. I'm planing on rebodying the notchie with the panels from the GT.





I've got the notchie road worthy now, so I'll slowly start changing things over.

It's just a pain in the butt tedious.  More so because you'll want to save the nice paint.

I think I'm going to have the roof painted so that will save me some grief. The GT roof has a few chips around the sunroof that would have to be painted anyways. I'll probably start at the back and work my way to the front. Thanks for the links, I hope I wont have to that much repair work.

Well I finally got around to removing some of the body panels. Not much rust under the front so far. If anybody is looking for body parts let me know. I'll be posting them for sale as they come off the car.

We have doors. Man those things are heavy when changing by yourself!

I think the only way I'll ever do a one-man door change again is with a cherry picker & a couple of tie-down straps.  More or less hang the door from a sling instead of trying to balance it on stands while messing with the hinges.

Adjusting the doors however....  such a wonderful task.

Dguy, tell me more! Tell me more about adjusting the doors. The drivers door is a little low when it meets the striker pin.

Before doing anything, check the condition of the hinge pins & bushings; replace if necessary.

Adjusting the door is simply a matter of determining which way you need to move it, loosening the appropriate hinge bolts, then holding the door in a new position while you tighten them.  Wash, rinse, repeat.  It's more an exercise in patience than anything else.

It's been a while since my last update. I'm trying to get the Fiero back in one piece before winter hits. I fixed up some of the minor rust spots in the front and rear sections and painted the rear bumper while I was at it.





The new fenders had the hole for the antenna filled in so I bought a new one and hid it down in the fender.

Last weekend I got the new hood, fenders and the rear clip on. And also switched over the wiring harness.

Well I'm finished for this year. I just need some rims, new quarter windows and to paint the roof. Down the road I'd like to do the 3800 swap and lower the stance a bit.
