Does any one on here know or have experience importing a kit car, I am considering picking up a half built Countach kit but want to make sure I can get it into the country from the US before I buy it. Dan

I don't think that it can be legally done unless you import the donor car as a complete Fiero and the the body panels separately. If you are looking at the one that is listed at Pennock's there is a brief discussion there and in the general chat forum also - searching "importing a Mera into Canada" in that forum. You can also check the Toronto forum for general info about importing Fieros into Canada.

Good luck - you'll need it but it is a smoking deal.

you can try asking these guys http://www.kitcarsforum.com/

As far as I know, you'll pull out the last of your hair trying to get thru all the hurdles of importing.  Undecided  It ain't easy............ if you can do it at all.

As far as I know it's really easy to import the car as long as it isn't a complete car.  ie no motor or something.

Good luck.

Unfortunately, importing a kitcar from the USA (or from anywhere else for that matter) is just about a NO-GO today! RIV.ca has tightened up most 'loopholes' and actually states on their website " Absolutely NO Kitcars !" That being said there are 'brokers' out there that will (for cash!!!) bring your kitcar over. Don't be the idiot and show up at the border with a bill of sale. A year ago someone showed up with a 355 bodykit only to store it at the border, and sold it on Ebay for .10 on the dollar! Once brokered into Canada, you must then jump through the provincial hoops .... another PITA. I believe Factory Five (Cobra kits) has spent alot of hours with RIV (years ago) to have them GRANT access to the Canadian market, but just for Factory Five! Word has it someone in the gov't wanted a Cobra!!! Better to search Canada for one and pay the shipping ripoff..... am I negative??? You bet I am! Cheesy
best,
Sandy
