Hi Chris, sorry to hear about your trouble. Hope I can help. As you have found out the alternator a difficult item to remove, you will cuss and you will get dirty from the insulation. What you need to do is remove the dogbone. The engine end is straight foreward, the strut end is a bit more involved, you need to remove the triangular plastic cover from the wheel well to allow access to the bolt. Unbolt the alternator top and bottom, try and pull it out, if no luck, leave it there and unbolt the alt bracket from the engine, (I have done it both ways removing the bracket is easier) remove it, this will allow you to pull the alternator out the top.
